Okay, there is a lot of stick for this product, so I'm doing this for everyone.
1. Drivers: Everyone should know that the Microsoft drivers suck. Download XBCD (Use Google) and that should clear it up.
2. Lights: About the Xbox button in the middle. I have Halo 2 for PC, so as it is a Microsoft game, the P1 quarter of the button lights up. So it does light up when using a Microsoft game like Halo or Bioshock. It also opens the Dashboard so stop complaining and buy Halo.
3. Feel: It feels great. I'm planning on buying my second, it's that good. I own a PS2 style joy pad as well so I know what I'm talking about when I say that the 360 controller is better. Just buy it already.
4. Compatibility: As I said before, the centre button lights up when playing Microsoft branded games. All Microsoft game that I know of are compatible with this controller. Compatible games have the "Games for Windows" label up the top of the case cover. Other games may need 3rd party drivers. There is also a lot of talk about the triggers. Non Microsoft games register the triggers as the Z-Axis, and not individual buttons. Go to control panel, then game controllers and you'll see what I mean.
5. Build: It's got a solid build and feels like a professional piece of kit. I've tried PS2-USB adapters, which are horrible, A PS3 controller connected via the charge cable, which is a little better, but they're both a little flimsy. The Xbox controller is a solid piece of kit, built with the players in mind.
So, to round it all up it's a good games controller, but not without its flaws. Also I would like to prove a couple of rumours wrong:
1. It works fine with Vista, as it automatically installs the drivers. For me it was the same with my XP as well.
2. Yes, the packaging is Heat Crimped, so it's a nightmare to keep the packaging intact. Just do your best.
Also, for those of you who do not know, Emulation has been mentioned quite a few times. I use it myself, but within the extent of the law. It is illegal under the following terms:
1. You must own the game you are downloading or playing. Otherwise, it's stealing.
2. It is NOT illegal to own an emulator, unless it requires a BIOS. My PS1 emulator requires a bios, but as I own a PS1, it is legal for me to have a PS1 BIOS.
3. The Xbox 360 controller does work well with certain emulators.
Always make sure you own the game/s before you download it, or you will be breaching the law.
I hope you find this review helpful and will go on to purchase this games controller.
Great all rounder

Very comfortable grip, works with almost all the games i have for pc. For those who say it doesn't work with vista it does, vista finds and installs the drivers automatically so no need for the disk. And the drivers are also fine, i haven't run into any problems whatsoever.
Don't hesitate to buy this just because of negative reviews, its cheaper than a lot of other controllers but it is a lot better than any other pc controller i've used. The lengthy cable that comes with it means i can sit back on a sofa while playing games.
This makes especially good for racing games like Pure or Need For Speed.
If you've already used a 360 controller then how great these are should need no explaining.
Enjoy!
Amazingly squeaky and now in the bin
Review date: 2008-11-10 Rating: 2 out of 10
When the parcel arrived I ran around the village twice totally involuntarily - great delivery. Very squeaky analogue stick after owning the product for under a month and using it rarely. So annoying that I had to smash it into tiny pieces and now lies peacefully squeaking no more in my wicker basket bin. Will be ordering a second time and KEEPING the packaging so I can send it back when the new one starts squeaking. Don't buy twice, buy once and keep your packaging (which is impossible not to ruin when you open it because it is heat crimped shut).
